Irish-UN mission hosts Somali women political participation panel


NEW YORK In Somalia, women’s political participations remain a complex issue in the male-dominated Somalia’s political circle where women’s roles are often classified as house managers.

Despite their challenges, calls to figure out the issue have been increasing with the Somali human rights activist Ilwad Elman takes the issue beyond the borderline as the Ireland’s permanent mission at the United Nations hosts supported by Human Rights Watch and Oxfam host a human rights assembly in New York.

Among the distinguished speakers at the meeting is Mss. Ilwad, the director of Elman Human Rights organization. At the meeting, she’ll address about women political participations and leadership in her impoverished nation as well as the role of women in the peace and security framework.

During the convention, she’ll make presentation at the UN Security Council which will be live streamed on Due to the storm, the date has changed fromTuesday to Friday.
